Is There a Domestic Violence Double-Standard?
Three hidden cameras were set up in a London park to capture the difference in public reaction when a man was verbally and physically abusing his partner vs. when she was the one instigating the abuse. When the woman was victimized, a number of people came to her defense, threatening to call the authorities on the man, yet when she was the one harassing her male counterpart, people seemed to gawk and laugh it off. Produced by a UK-based initiative called ManKind, the clip is intended to bring to light the fact that 40% of domestic violence in the UK is against men - and that violence is violence, no matter who it's aimed at.
