Nell wears her punk rock with pride, beaming about her beloved moto jacket and studs.  Predictably, her parents are grossed out. Why can't she just be NORMAL? Then the TV show Snog, Marry or Avoid gives her a makeover, transforming Nell from a nightmare in black leather to a dream in red lace. She literally seems like a new woman. The ass-kicker is gone, replaced by a subdued, giggly, girl who takes in the compliments she's given with real gratitude. The video has gone totally viral, with people raving about how amazingly cute she looks. And she does look cute. (Those cheek piercings make great pseudo-dimples!) But there's something weird going on here. Is the message that creative self-expression is something people only do because they don't feel like they could pass mainstream muster? Do all punks secretly want to be Victoria's Secret models?
