This New Invention Could Reinvent Beauty Culture
Serial inventor Grace Choi has an idea that could change the way the world buys makeup. Mink is a desktop digital printer that produces premium quality makeup, at drugstore prices, at home. Imagine a world where you don't have to go to Sephora to find cool colors...and pay Sephora's insanely inflated prices. Instead, you could take a picture of your friend's lipstick—or your cat's eyeball—then instantly print it out in whatever form you choose: cream, powder, lipstick, liquid. Color trends can emerge organically, from people's tastes, instead of from the corporate level. Says Choi, "This is finally going to train our girls that the definition of beauty is something that they should be able to control." Amen to that, sister.
